Captial Campaign

11-28-11
We're ready! Construction on the new building will be underway Monday, November 28th and with it will be lots of exciting changes.
Over the last week our volunteers have been working hard to prepare the construction site so we can get started. The deck on the portable building was removed and shuttled out to the grass parking area, the portable building was moved to a new location to make room for the new building, all the fencing was pulled up and the parking lot light post was taken down. Thanks so much to everyone who worked so hard to get that initial work done.
On Monday, November 28th we are beginning the site preparation work which will mean the removal of a portion of our parking lot and driveway at the back of the property. That means we'll have fewer parking spots, so on Sunday mornings remember we can use the lower level parking lot down by the Exxon; there's a set of steps leading up into our parking to make the walk easier. It also means our covered drop off area may be affected. Ultimately, the covered drop off won't be able to be used at all so just be ready for that one!
We will do our best to keep everyone as updated as possible, but here is the general timeline for construction. Site prep and dirt work begins this Monday so between now and Spring Break we will be working to prepare the site, set the plumbing, pour the concrete slab, frame the building, roof it and dry it in.
When Spring Break gets here, the Texas Baptist Men (who are a group of retired builders that help churches with construction), will arrive for two weeks and they will donate their time and labor. The plan is to have these men and women do the rough in electrical work, plumbing, sheet rock and whatever else they can get to in 2 weeks time. If you are able to come out and volunteer during those two weeks that would be great! The Texas Baptist Men are asking that anyone who is able to help would do so. There will be many ways we can all pitch in and help.
Here's a few ways you can get involved now:
1. We need a person, couple or group of people who will do site clean up at least two times per week (one of those times will be on Saturdays). Having someone clean up the job site weekly will save thousands of dollars. This job will run the duration of the construction time, not just the time the Texas Baptist Men are here.
2. When the Texas Baptist Men arrive we will need someone to be here for the two weeks who will serve as their "gopher". That means you are there to serve them and "go for" whatever it is they may need.
3. Plan to volunteer during the two weeks the Texas Baptist Men are here.
I am so thankful that God has given us this opportunity and am excited to see everything God is going to do during and after this time of building. We'll keep you updated as best we can.
Jesus is Lord!
